A brand-new RC support group called The Slippery Donuts has recently appeared in the racing community, with a mission to get more people involved in the hobby we all love.
The group is the brainchild of Ben Gosling from Barnsley, a friendly yet competitive RC racer who believes we should be doing more to bring new racers onto the track and fill our clubs with fresh talent. Although Slippery Donuts is only a few months old, it is already gaining strong support from both clubs and racers alike.
Ben has secured backing from well-known model shops, JKE Models, Reckless RC and RC Club Hub helping to give the project a solid foundation. In addition, two world-class RC racers—World Champions Alexander Hagberg and Jan Ratheisky, have also joined the initiative, offering their expertise to help newcomers get the best start in the sport.
To help share valuable knowledge and advice, Ben has set up a dedicated Facebook group where beginner racers can find tips and guidance to help them enjoy the hobby to its fullest.

One aspect of Ben’s plan that has really caught our attention is his brand-new Yokomo Rookie Speed 2 chassis, fully built and race-ready. He plans to take this car to various race meetings, giving beginners the chance to experience RC racing first-hand.
Local clubs across South Yorkshire and Derbyshire have already offered their support for this exciting initiative. We recently had the chance to see the car in action at Sheffield RC Racing, where Ben gave it its maiden race. We even got a chance to test the car ourselves, and we were impressed by how smooth and solid it felt for a budget-friendly chassis. Ben’s setup on the car ensures that beginners will get to experience what a well-tuned RC car should feel like before they dive into the hobby themselves.
