In the fast-paced world of RC racing, where cars tear across the track in a blur of speed and precision, it takes a keen eye and quick reflexes to freeze the moment. That’s exactly what Noel, a talented hobbyist photographer from Northern Ireland, has been doing for the past decade. Specialising in RC photography, Noel has built a reputation for capturing great images of RC cars in action and also flight!
A Passion for RC Through the Lens
Noel regularly photographs events at RC Northern Ireland, Northern Ireland Model Car Club, and Craigavon Model Racing Club, documenting the highs and lows of competition with his stunning imagery. A particular favourite of his is 1/8th scale nitro racing, where the raw power and big jumps create some of the most dynamic shots.
What makes his work truly great is the dedication behind the scenes. While racers focus on their driving, Noel is out there in all conditions—rain or shine—lining up the perfect shots. His selfless effort allows others to relive their best racing moments, often without realising the time and skill it takes.
Many don’t appreciate the full extent of what goes into RC photography. Capturing the perfect shot isn’t just about being at the right place at the right time—it’s about patience, timing, and a deep understanding of the sport. The work doesn’t stop at the track, either. Post-production is a huge part of the process, with hundreds of images carefully sorted, edited, and enhanced to bring out the best in each frame.
It’s a labor of love, and one that deserves recognition. Noel’s photography not only highlights the intensity and excitement of RC racing but also preserves memories for racers and fans alike.
