Club Review
Nestled behind Wombwell Town Football Club, the Wombwell RC track is a hidden gem in Barnsley. Sharing space with the local karting track, this RC track utilises the tight infield section, creating a layout that is ideal for RC racing. The combination of both fast and technical corners makes it a challenging and exciting track for racers of all skill levels.
Given its proximity to a residential area, the club has strict rules regarding opening times and noise levels. Despite these restrictions, the atmosphere at Wombwell RC Club is both relaxed and well-organized. There is good mix of on-road classes, catering to a wide range of racers. Whether you’re driving budget-friendly 1/10 iconic spec cars or powerful large-scale nitro 5th scale racers, there’s something for everyone.
Wombwell RC Racing
One of the standout features of the club is its rostrum—a tall shipping container that provides an excellent view of the track. This elevated vantage point ensures that drivers have a clear line of sight. The track surface is slightly gravelly, but there isn't enough to cause handling issues or low grip. The layout is perfectly balanced, offering a mix of speed and technical skill. The straight, positioned under the rostrum, benefits from this great viewing position.
Having visited the club multiple times, I’ve consistently enjoyed the racing at Wombwell RC Club. The track is easy to learn but requires attention to detail, especially to avoid the hidden puddles off the corners. Each visit has been a blend of fun and competition, thanks to the well-maintained facilities and the welcoming community of racers.
Wombwell RC Club is a fantastic venue for RC racing. Its hidden location, diverse racing classes, and well-designed track make it a must-visit for anyon-road racer.
