Club Review

Established in early 2023, Rotherham RC Racing Club has quickly become a popular club in the local area. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and inclusivity, this club is open to all classes and abilities, making it an excellent choice for beginners and seasoned racers alike.

The Track & Pits

The track at Rotherham RC is top-notch, with 4m-wide carpets that mean fewer tape lines to slip on. During my visit, I raced in a special charity endurance race, and the track layout was superb. Its flowing corners and plenty of room for overtaking made it a great to race on.

However, there were a couple of small issues. Some tape broke during the race due to poor positioning, and there were a few bumps caused by the thick cables used for the timing system. These didn’t ruin the experience, but they’re worth noting.

The pits at Rotherham RC are buzzing with activity and friendly banter. What makes them even more special is that they double up as the podium. From this elevated vantage point, you get a fantastic view of the track.

The Atmosphere

The club has a welcoming and friendly vibe. The racers, whether veterans or newcomers, were all supportive and encouraging. It was also great to see so many young racers and beginners at the club, showing that Rotherham RC is doing its part to grow the hobby.

The only downside during my visit was the noise from the neighbouring skate rink. A roller hockey team started training mid-meeting, which created quite a bit of distraction. It’s unclear if this is a regular occurrence, but it’s something to consider.

Final Thoughts

Rotherham RC Racing Club has achieved an impressive amount in a short time. Despite a few minor hiccups, the track, atmosphere, and sense of community make it a fantastic place to race. Whether you’re a newcomer or introducing young children to the hobby, this club is highly recommended.

If you’re local to the Rotherham area, make sure to check it out!
