Club Review
RC Complex boasts two distinct tracks: a Drift track for RC drift pilots and a Kyosho Mini-Z foam track, which provides a grippy and precise surface for competitive Mini-Z racing. The tracks are well-designed, utilizing the available space efficiently.
The pit area is spacious, accommodating over 20 racers, and is equipped with tables, chairs, and electrical outlets. A kitchen is available for hot drinks, adding a touch of comfort to the experience.
The race format is engaging, with practice time, 3 rounds of qualifying, and a final with an option to bump up. The club focuses on TC Drift Cars and Mini-Z racing, making it perfect for both beginners and seasoned racers.
The atmosphere is welcoming and fun. The Drift pilots have a relaxed vibe, while the Mini-Z racers bring competitive energy without any worries about car damage. A highlight of the club's friendly nature was the group food order, ensuring everyone felt included.
Meeting Highlights
- Well-designed tracks that maximise the venue's potential.
- The rental Mini-Z cars offer a great way for newcomers to get involved.
- The pit area is comfortable and well-equipped.
The only minor issue was the noise from the Drift cars below the Mini-Z track, which made hearing race announcements challenging. This is something the club will likely address as they refine their setup.
What is RC Mini-Z racing like?
I had a brilliant time! Using one of the rental Mini-Z cars, I got to experience both the brushed and brushless classes. While the brushless cars are powerful and fun, I felt the brushed cars were better suited for the track's size, especially for racing. It would be great to see both classes pushed and maybe allow racers to run in both to help promote them.
I was thrilled to qualify in the A final with a brushed rental car, though the brushless cars dominated in the final. Despite this, the experience was great fun and excellent value for money.
RC Complex is a fantastic venue with great tracks, friendly racers, and a positive atmosphere. I can’t wait to visit again and would highly recommend it to anyone in the RC community.
